The Okaukuejo camp waterhole is widely regarded as the finest wildlife waterhole on the African continent. Floodlit all night, free to sit at for as long as you wish. Black rhino arrive most evenings between 21:00 and midnight — up to four individuals have been recorded in a single sitting. Elephant herds of 60+ congregate in July–September. Lion are a year-round possibility. The wooden benches face the waterhole at eye level; there is no fence between you and the animals. Nothing in Africa quite prepares you for a black rhino standing 10 metres away in the spotlight.
