One of Namibia’s finest living museums, 14km west of Rundu on Samsitu Lake. Built entirely from natural materials, the village is a fully functioning exhibition of pre-colonial Kavango life. Visitors participate directly: you can make your own clay pot, forge a knife, weave a basket, make a bow and arrow, or shape a necklace — each activity taught by Mbunza community members who explain the history, stories and beliefs behind what they are demonstrating. Bushwalks, traditional fishing and food preparation are also on the programme. The craft shop sells authentic pieces made in the village. A genuinely exceptional, non-performative cultural experience.
