Six kilometres from Walvis Bay, Dune 7 rises 383 metres above the surrounding plain — making it one of the highest sand dunes in the world. Popular with locals and visitors for climbing (30–40 minutes to the top), sandboarding and skiing down the face, and for sweeping views across the Namib and towards the Atlantic. No facilities, no entry fee. Sunrise and sunset are the most rewarding times to climb.
