Stampriet sits above one of southern Africa’s most extraordinary geological features: the Stampriet Transboundary Aquifer System — a massive confined artesian aquifer straddling Namibia, Botswana and South Africa beneath the Kalahari. The artesian springs that gave the village its name are still flowing and can be visited.
