Okahirongo Elephant Lodge — A&K Sanctuary, Puros Conservancy

One of Kaokoland’s finest safari lodges — seven individual suites and one two-bedroom suite (max 18 guests) on the banks of the Hoarusib riverbed in the remote Puros Conservancy. The surrounding ‘clay castles’ landscape of eroded red-rock formations is unique on Earth. Desert-adapted elephant, giraffe, Hartmann’s mountain zebra, gemsbok and kudu move through the Hoarusib corridor. Himba villages nearby for cultural interaction. Accessible by light aircraft (2.5 hours from Windhoek); operated as an A&K Sanctuary with a strong community partnership supporting local schools.
