A 320 km² national park (formerly Mamili) in the southeastern Caprivi Strip, straddling the Kwando-Linyanti river system — Namibia’s largest wetland area under conservation status. A seasonal floodplain park of extraordinary richness: sitatunga, red lechwe, hippo, crocodile, elephant and lion are all resident. 450+ bird species have been recorded, including wattled crane, African fish eagle, and a wide range of herons, kingfishers and waders. The flooded landscape (peak: January–April) creates a papyrus labyrinth of channels, islands and open lagoons that rewards boat exploration. 4×4 essential; roads can be impassable in high flood.
