Impalila Island sits at the precise northeastern tip of Namibia, at the confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi rivers where the borders of Namibia, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe meet within a few kilometres of each other. The island itself is in Namibia; the surrounding waterways divide four nations. The confluence is one of the most prolific wildlife corridors in Africa — the Chobe is famous for its enormous elephant herds (the largest concentration on earth), while the Zambezi floods up from Zambia. Ichingo Chobe River Lodge (on the island) and the Chobe Water Villas (on the Chobe bank opposite Kasane) are the lodges of choice here.
