A genuinely unique accommodation: a 30-bed lodge built within a restored German colonial fort constructed in 1896 as a control post against cattle disease, arms smuggling and illegal hunting in what was then German South West Africa. The fort’s thick walls, shaded courtyards and mature palm trees create a cool oasis in the otherwise harsh Kunene landscape. Sesfontein (the ‘Six Springs’) sits at the edge of the Kaokoland wilderness — this is the last structured accommodation before the roads deteriorate into Hartmann’s Valley and the Kunene River.
