The second-largest canyon on Earth. The main viewpoint from the rim stops most visitors in their tracks: 550 metres deep, up to 27 kilometres wide, 160 kilometres long. The Fish River — the longest river entirely within Namibia — carved this chasm over 600 million years through basement granite that is over a billion years old. The canyon walls expose an unbroken archive of southern Africa’s geological history. Accessible in a standard 2WD vehicle, 10km from Hobas camp.
