A 6,274 km² national park established in 2007 by merging the old Caprivi Game Park and Mahango Game Park, running east from Divundu along the Caprivi Strip between the Okavango and Kwando rivers. Part of the vast KAZA (Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area) — the world’s largest transfrontier park. Jointly managed with resident Khwe San and Mbukushu communities. Three designated core areas — Mahango (245 km²), Buffalo (629 km²) and Kwando (1,345 km²) — offer the best game concentration. Wildlife: buffalo (the only significant population in Namibia), lion, leopard, elephant, hippo, crocodile, roan antelope, sitatunga, red lechwe and 450+ recorded bird species. Best: May–October.
